COLLEEN HEALEY

PRINCIPAL

As Principal of SIJJA Consulting, Colleen lives in Iqaluit, Nunavut, where she was born and raised. She has over 20 years experience working with Governments, Indigenous organizations, and communities across the three Territories. Her qualifications include a BAH, MA, and a diploma in International Negotiations. Having spent the majority of her life in the Eastern Arctic, Colleen has strong connections within Inuit communities and a deep understanding of Inuit culture and languages. Her expertise include northern community engagement, developing government-wide programs and policies, strategic planning, negotiations, climate change, heritage preservation, and human-centered design.

ELISE HO-FOONG

ASSOCIATE

An Associate of SIJJA, Elise is a Principal at Avaanz, a human environment consulting firm that strives to help advance community well-being. Elise has a PhD in climate change and over 13 years of consulting experience. She is an experienced leader and facilitator who provides strategic solutions for clients that are grounded in technical expertise. Elise has experience in climate change, socio-economic analysis, strategic planning, education, and youth programs. Elise’s diplomatic approach and seasoned problem-solving skills make her a core asset to SIJJA Consulting’s team, building strong partnerships with communities and clients to ensure project success.

SHUVINAI MIKE

ASSOCIATE

An Associate of SIJJA, Shuvinai Mike has a passion for educating both Inuit and non-Inuit about Inuit culture and language. Shuvinai has worked in the Nunavut educational system for over 24 years, where she inspired Inuit students to stay grounded in their identity and proud of their language. She has spent more than 20 years building Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (traditional knowledge) resources and projects across Nunavut and incorporating this knowledge and Inuit voices into government policies, programs, and services. Shuvinai leads clients through cultural trainings, provides Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit expertise and advice on community engagement processes, translates and interprets in English and Inuktitut, and guides the establishment of our Inuit elders’ committees for SIJJA community-based projects.

ZOË MARTOS

ASSOCIATE

An Associate of SIJJA, Zoë is a communications and knowledge mobilization professional. She has over 10 years of experience in research and communications across a wide range of health and environmental topics. Zoë holds a BSc and MPH, and is currently completing her PhD at the University of Guelph. She is an experienced project manager and has worked extensively with government, non-governmental organizations, and community groups to bring projects to life through creative and thoughtful communication.

 

ANOUSHKA MARTIL

ASSOCIATE

An Associate of SIJJA, Anoushka is a Principal at Avaanz, a human environment consulting firm that strives to help advance community well-being. Anoushka brings experience in project management, environmental and socio-economic impact assessment, strategic planning, facilitation, engagement, and consultation. Anoushka works closely with clients to understand alignment between engagement needs and technical/design work, to plan, design and implement the best tools, frameworks and tactics to meet client expectations and desired outcomes. Anoushka is passionate about facilitating meaningful dialogue that draw diverse voices to the conversation and consciously strives to promote fair and equitable representation of all voices as part of her daily work.

MONICA CHOHAN

ASSOCIATE

An Associate of SIJJA, Monica Chohan is a strategic planning consultant, facilitator and lawyer, with 15+ years of experience. She pursues her love of strategic planning, team building and facilitation as the Principal of both Wilbrod House Consulting and Chohan Law, where she regularly works with BIPOC leaders, diverse intercultural teams, and supports grassroots initiatives focused on the needs of underserved communities. Monica is skilled in working on issues around governance, policy development, risk management and workplace investigation services, and excels in building strong interpersonal relationships with clients so that they can build healthy teams and workplaces.

JASMINE OLDHAM

ADMININSTRATIVE ASSISTANT

As the administrative assistant for SIJJA, Jasmine cares for our timelines and spreadsheets and makes sure everyone has all the details they need to make our projects shine. Jasmine is passionate about learning from Inuit in the north and can always be found at cultural events, listening and asking questions. She has lived in the north since 2020 and is excited about our projects that prioritize Inuit sovereignty and knowledge.
